DOT Publishes Final Rule on Specimen Validity Testing in 49 CFR Part 40
June 25, 2008
<--
The Final Rule makes specimen validity testing mandatory within the regulated transportation industries.

The DOT has published amendments to certain provisions of its drug and alcohol testing procedures to create consistency with DHHS validity testing requirements and to incorporate several provisions of the DOT Interim Final Rules into CFR 49 Part 40. The Final Rule is effective August 25, 2008 and makes specimen validity testing mandatory within the regulated transportation industries.
The Final Rule also describes requirements for reporting results of specimen validity testing which will require MEDTOX to modify some report content and protocols. We anticipate these changes will have minimal impact on MEDTOX clients. Sample reports will be provided as the revised format becomes available.
